MESOTHERAPY

MESOTHERAPY

Mesotherapy is a combination of two Greek words, Mesos meaning “middle” and therapeia meaning “to treat medically”.
Mesotherapy originated in France by Dr. Michel Pistor and has been performed since 1952. It was more predominant in Europe; however it has gained considerable momentum in the United States as well.
Mesotherapy is used for several different treatments. This involves the delivery of a series of small injections in the subcutaneous fat, or the fat underneath the skin. The injections consist of vitamins, minerals, and medications to increase oxygen profusion to the targeted area.
Mesotherapy is used in dissolving fat cells in stubborn areas (sometimes referred to as the French weight loss method), reducing bags under eyes, reducing double chins or loose fat hanging from triceps, and improving acne scars.
Except for a couple of exceptions there is virtually no down time. Depending on the treatment area some patients experience a slight discomfort for a few hours.
Results of Mesotherapy treatment are best assessed a few weeks after treatment. The number of treatments typically average about 3 series of injections, usually once a month. However, each individual’s response to treatment may differ. Therefore, the number and interval of treatments may differ from one person to another.
